There seems to be much more 'chipping' to the decal than anywhere else on the helmet which concerns me, however other areas of wear seems consistant e'g liner nuts.

Agree with besslein . It's a good water / wet clay find /
Extremely hard to find such condition in digging . too bad because of some repair of the shell inside but still nice relic/

That`s right, it is a water/mire find but already many years ago. The previous owner started to restore the helmet inside with filler, luckily he did not have a lot of desire

Looks OK to me. I guess the decal looks "chipped" because that's just a thin
layer so more fragile than normal paint on the shell...
