A lie or fraud by omission....

I suspect this is a liner SWITCH rather than a fabrication of the entire helmet!

In the camo helmet the band doesn't show a very good 'fit' so my best guess was a SHELL awaiting a liner

No, the inside of the helmet is identical. Examine the scratches & rust.

Yes Sirreeeee Bob its the same helmet .This guy pretends to be a good guy ,he has let himself down bigtime . If that helmet had appeared here ,most of us would have congratulated the owner . Sometimes all you can see is the $$$$$$$$$ in this game ,its all there for the taking on ebay . Sadly he will have lost a lot of friends over this ,Rob

I emailed this guy informing him that there are at least 3 forums watching him right now, aware of what he has done. Hopefully he'll pull it and spare the high bidder the loss.

This is a sad state of affairs. With a finite number of original helmets available, and a growing interest in the hobby, we should have all known that this day would come. Money corrupts. With WWII being one of the most significant events in world history we should expect any artifacts related to it to go up in price. Were any of you glued to the TV watching the History Channel on the 60th aniversary of D-Day? To say that the fakers will never be able to produce a helmet that will fool an experienced collector is a strong, but very naive statement. Unless you have sophisticated and expensive carbon dating machines at your disposal, you can be fooled! Pro's have been faking paintings of the masters for big dollars for ages, and you better believe that a Picasso is infinately harder to fake than a mass produced steel military helmet. Whats going to happen is the price of a known original will go sky high (undecaled M42's for $1000+), collectors will hold on to thier helmets, the market will be full of fakes, and someone is going to jail for felonious fakery! I can see DD SS M35's going for $10,000 right around the corner!

Ebay doesn't really offer a practical way to complain about this... Their automated system doesn't provide the options required to explain the situation properly and I am never able to find an email option for something like this...

Has anybody reported it yet somehow??
