    Name informations

    Hello all

    I bought a german costal artillery cap officier cap with a paper inside with the following informations:


    W. Hollerich.
    Leutnant zur see
    Brest. K.NR. III

    If somebody has informations please help me ...

    I find no officer with that name in January 1939, nor anyone with that name in the Naval Officers' Association (MOH eV) in 1960 or 1963.

      Wasn't the coastal Artillery under army command? not navy.

        No-- coast artillery personnel were drawn from the navy. They had blue as well as their own distinctive "mustard-green" field uniforms. During the Third Reich, most "career" (Laufbahn) officer personnel were drawn from former petty officers who were commissioned, but many naval officers were attached temporarily, as in the case mentioned above. A "permanent" Marine Artillery officer would have that designation after his rank--- "Kapitänleutnant (MA)" etc.
