Well Ken B's recent haul thread prompted me to post my summertime haul. I haven't been active in helmet collecting much this year as I have been very busy assembling a world class CEF cap badge collection. Nevertheless I have picked up 6 new helmets this summer which created a bit of a problem considering my shelves were are full!
From left to right, top to bottom, here are the new additions;
EF M35 DD SS reissued with near mint decals. This one is extremely rare as factory EF M35 SS helmets are simply non-existant. This stunning example is named twice and both soldiers Kelly has researched in the NARA SS archives.
EF M35 DD SS Double Runic. This one is an extremely rare helmet of the extremely rare. As said above, factory EF M35 SS helmets are non-existant. This example has a factory applied Pocher decals and a Pocher applied overtop of the party decal.
ET M35 DD SS in near mint condition. Ken N did a post on this one earlier this year and somehow this helmet found its way into my war room. Not quite sure how that happened still.
ET M40 SD SS ex winter whitewash with Canadian veteran provenance from the Canadian D+ battles in Normandy. The vets name is scratched into the top of the shell and was originally found by Darryl Pajot. Nice to repatriate this one. (thanks Jacques! )
ET FJ tan and green camo, while not a huge FJ collector, this one was calling my name. It was originally tan with green striping added later, indicating the FJ soldier relocated and added the green to better blend into his new surroundings. Italian theater perhaps.
Q M35 DD SS with Russian front provenance. I posted this one earlier this year on GHW and is technically a Spring find, not summer but I needed to balance the photo out. Still where I come from summer is when there is no snow flying or on the ground.
That is my haul this summer, lets see what you brought in this summer!
