There are a number of reasons that this helmet is special.
It is one of three helmets that were acquired July 30, 2001 from a WW2 veteran US Army Nurse, who brought them home with her.
It is a M40 size 68 Single Decal Army Helmet.
The Helmet was made by the firm of Sachsische Emailer and Stanzwerke and has the "hkp" size marking which is a bit unusual for a M40 helmet.
In 1943 the Firm changed their size marking initials from "SE" to "hkp."
These initials are almost always found on the inside rear rim of M42 helmets, which came into production at about the same time as the Firm changed the initials of the size designation.
It is quite unusual to find them on a M40 helmet, and the band date on the liner is 1943, which suggests that it was likely one of the last made with the "hkp" designation.
Hope you like the Helmet.................
