Like a couple of amorous turtles, a pair of M1916 helmets: German to the left and Austrian to the right, are discovered in the basment:

And a fine little helmet it is, with Luft eagle on the other side. But regretably it has not grown up enough for a proper liner:

I regret to report that the older generation was quite shocked by these two headstrong stahlhelm. Heir Picklhaub can be seen with his chin-strap up over der eagle. Achk!, he had told this German and Austrian, no paint thumping without the benefit of a proper anschlos!
