Helmets where do you get em?

Just a query I was wondering where all you guys manage to locate these beautiful prime example of helmets I see everyday on the forum , I check most of the dealer sites and they dont seem to offer alot or they seem overpriced am I checking the wrong ones , are most of the ones listed here vet buys ?
Any clues on some good dealers.

Slayer, as with anything worth having it takes effort and a lot of networking!!


What was done by telephone and letter writing in the past is now accomplished via the net today! It takes nothing more than a 'target' and application....there's very little in our hobby that can't be obtained. Ofcourse, I understand the $$$ aspect but get only one thing of quality and soon enough the money will catch up to where you have equity....then turn that in to another quality piece etc., etc.!


It can be done!

It's been my experience that some of the nicer items are ones that turn up in the strangest places. The first SS helmet I bought was at a baseball card/coin show. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I think you have to also realize that a lot of collectors trade amongst themselves and real nice stuff never gets released for public consumption. That's just a fact of life.My advise is advertise. Get some business cards made up and get the word out to fellow collectors that you're looking. Ask at flea markets, yard sales, etc. If you're at any of these functions, just ask. May suprise you what they might have. Place wanted ads in the papers. As for high ticket items, steer clear of unreputable dealers on the internet. That's definitely a mine field as you have witnessed on this forum. You just have to persevere and things will turn up.
