    mouse gray helmet cover?

    Hi folks:<O</O

Cloth items are not my area of collecting, so I need some help on this one.

Is this an original German mouse gray helmet cover? It reverses to white, and fits perfectly over one of my M-40 helmets.

There are no ink stamps or other markings on the cover.

One last photo. I neglected to shoot some photos of the white interior of the cover, but I can if needed.

Let me know what you think. I'm out of my league on this one.

I like what I see except the string.
          Clothes,construction are ok for me.
Mister Kibler owned one some years ago,ask him.

agree. the only thing I don't like is already mentioned string. originally it shoudl be made from the same clost as the rest of cover.

The draw string gives rise to concern. Construction wise, I also have some concern. These are tough, because so few were made (I believe they were issued with the mouse gray anoraks).

Photos of the reverse would be helpful. Any stampings inside? I see you say there are none... Are you sure?

Again, tough to tell. Sorry I wasn't more help.

                I agree, with Tom.
The one I own has a stamp in it, and the construction is different also.

To keep this discussion alive, here are additional photos of the interior of the helmet cover.

There are no ink stamps that I can see. The dark marks on the first of these two photos are black/grey waterstains.

So what can we conclude? If you think it is a fake, I'd like to know what aspects of the cover are problematic.

                      Thanks!

                        Thanks Kenny,

Like I said, these are tough. The material appears (from the photos) to be correct, but the manner of stitching and the color of thread seems off. The draw string, itself, should be made from the same material as the cover, folded onto itself and sewn.

As Rob NL said, his has a stamp also... I'll see if I can dig up the old photos I have to compare.

From the pics, it was obviously on an M42. I hope this helps. Rob, please post pics of your stamp...
