    DD Army M042 Barn Find!

    This one just came into the shop. kind of am oddball- was in a barn in Northern WI.

    any thoughts as to why the "double decal" ??

      Jerry, have to agree with Ken. Those look like Strache decals, notorious for post war applications. Maybe the vet brought home both the helmet and decals? Helmet itself looks pretty nice from the outside.

          thanks guys, well it is what it is...

          helmet is nice on the outside, that kind of "powedery" field grey paint finish.
          Liner has a bit to be desired, but at least is there. (and mouse house that came along for the ride)

          I searched through some old threads to get the story of the decals. so they did exist wartime, but ended turning up on all kind of helmets post war.

          do you think I should try & remove them or just sell the helmet as-is?

            Based on the close-ups, they are not Strache decals, but I would agree that they are most likely post-war applied.

              I agree Walter they are ET decals.

              No certainly not remove them , vet applied decals do have their worth in my opinion. It's a nice helmet regardless.
