M40 GERMAN ARMY HELMET Estate Find

I got this Army hemlet a few months back along with a Luftwaffe one. Sold the Luftwaffe one here, and have been away for the holidays and am just getting around to listing this one. I do not collect German, so it all goes on here for sale. Helmet is all original, as found with decal and liner. I added the chinstrap out of a spares box for display (I think it is a newer one). Nice gray/green factory paint with only a few small scratches and a small area on top of where some white paint wore off. Overall, this is a nice, out of the woodwork example never before on the collector market. The vet that brought this back was part of a AAA unit that some some kind of record for shooting down V1 Buzz Bombs in Belgium and France. Asking 575.00 or your best offer.

Decal looks bad from those pictures (certainly not one I would expect on a Q shell), as does the chinstrap.

              Decal close up

Read the description fully. I put the chinstrap on there, and yes, I think the chinstrap is new. I had it in a box of junk and never had a use for it. However, I got the helmet out of the woodwork with a Luftwaffe one that seemed to pass muster on here. Instead of just moving it and giving it some kind of juvenile thumbs down emoticon, can we be more specific?

Strap was said to be bad so no problem there. Decal looks out of whack for a 64.

                  More info

Where do I find the size? I will take some macro shots of the decal in better light in the morning as well.

I edited my question after I saw it's a 64. It's on the wearers left side of the inside skirt.

all the bottom if the BF decal is good (all the clearest part including swas and claws) , the rest has been re painted

                        Close ups

OK, I see what you are talking about. Where the decal has come off... Probably something that the vet did to try to make it more displayable. I just looked at it close, and it looks old. It definitely wasn't done yesterday. That being said, what is a fair price for it? I still want to sell it.

Decal is defintely bad. I believe it is a 90s version that used to fool people. The easy indicator is the thin legs and lack of detail to the feathers. I believe the paint on this helmet is not original either.
