M40 SE66 KM or "battleship grey"

Her is the helmet purchased in 2009 in Horten, Norway where the germans had workshops, dockyards and other facilities for the Kriegsmarine in south of Norway.
The former owner said it was from the base there.

    Take a look.

I also believe it's a KM. I too have one with almost the same shade green but with the KM decal showing.

                !

Nice one, Jan. Thanks for posting up on its own thread. For some reason I thought it was darker than this. Definitely grey, and not green. I seem to remember it being bluer than your pics show, as well. I fished up a very nice ET64 M40 KM with near perfect decal from Horten. Good going!

                    Could be, Paul.
It looks like it's white under.
I'm not reflecting over such features, this country has its winters.
The germans stayed here for 5 years and they certainly painted their helmets white during winters with whitewash paint and normal white paint.

Scott: The helmet is grey blueish, maybe the darker appereance it's due to the patina and the dirty surface. When I see new and deep scratches in the paint it has a much lighter grey paint colour.

                      Well, nice helmet ...

I did not see what makes you think to a KM, ( except the gray paint of course ),

personnaly, i do not believe SE to have made any M40 KM !!!!!!!

Need to see the decal to be sure....

but if ypu want to call it a KM, It's yours .....not mine.

Any way , it is very nice...

                      regards

                        Hello Herve.
I called it a KM because of where it was found the germans had a huge KM base. But you're right, could be a Heer, because the garrison (sentinels) were mostly infanterie companies or platoons.
You never know before you see the decals. This one has a coat of white paint under so the outline of the decal is almost invisible.
