M42 Luftwaffe helmet, help needed!!

Hi Guys ,

I have a question about this helmet that i have in my collection. This is the first helmet i have ever bought. It is a M42 Luftwaffe helmet with no decal. You can see on the pictures that the decal is been removed.

My question is: the helmet is marked with the following numbers 2681. But i can see nothing else but only this numbers. Is that normal?? I mean the most helmets have the following marks: CKL.... or ET.....

Here are some pictures, but my question is if this is normal???

It's not unusual at all, especially with helmets made by EF, as yours most certainly was.

EF's (M42's at least) are notorious for having weakly stamped maker/size marks. I have two ear stamped ones that I can not see any of the maker/size marks while the lot numbers (with characteristic EF odd size numbers) are quite legible.

I'd say with your helmet the decal was stripped off as opposed to removed because the whole helmet has been heavily stripped down.
