who would pay a lot of money for a helmet when there's only one picture?

I could be wrong, but i think this was for guards that were on duty at the german BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS in Berlin in December 1943.
I think thats a skittle on the side of the helmet.

A close-up might help. Insignia like this was non-standard and uncommon, so you'll only get people's opinions on the subject and no definitive answers.

                  Cheers,

                  Asper

                      Trident on the Helmet

                      Hello

I am not a uniform expert but I have intereviewed over 150 veterans of the 14 Galician division over the years. several veterans have told me that after the unit had been re-named the 1st Division of the Ukrainian National Army on
19th April 1945, they marked their gear with the trident symbol as this was the national symbol of Ukraine. This applied to everything from helmets to the shields on anti tank guns but mostly occured with units in the rear areas. It does not therefore necessarily follow that the item is a fake

                      best wishes

The helmet does not necessarily has to belong to Galicia division. The Trident was also very generously used by members of Ukrainian Liberation Army. There is a similar helmet in the book "German Camouflaged Helmets of Second World War".

P.S. I actually like the way the Trident is painted - its somewhat consisted with the way it was depicted in those times.

                              Hello

yes I did compile a book published in 2001 and re-printed in 2007 entitled "To Battle".

I am currently working on a new book on the same division. I am looking to include as much new and unpublished material as possible. I have been very successful in some areas whilst there is still work to be done in others. Many of the veterans who I interviewed for the first book have now passed away. There are some who are still alive who I have contacted as well as some more whom I am working with for the first time. The advanced age of the surviving veterans has meant that I have had to carry out my research with the greatest urgency.

I have never had a great interest in unform details but I appreciate that many people do so for that reason I will do my best to include some new material here as well

                              best wishes
