This helmet seems to be very solid, and I would not be worried about rust problems. As you said yourself, it has been this way 10 years already and seems to be doing good.

if this one realy come from Poland i have bad news for you in mid of 90 was found a pleace in pomerania ,where some 9 FJ are buried,some from them with dd helmets ,it was well know story here,as most of the are later stolen,i have seen some photos and from condition the look like your helmet.
