Hi - I have a Q 66 helmet, with numbers "21057" on the back. Inside it painted a dull dark green. Outside somebody re-painted it with a brush - also dark green. Maybe it was painted during the war- I have no idea. I can't post any photos, I guess because I am not a full-fledged member. Any ideas what it USED to be? It is a size 58 - so it is stamped on the decent liner. Thanks

The brush paint can be of course period done..or not: even if you're not an asso member you can post links of hosted image (try http://photobucket.com/ )
Quote from another member: "If you place the cursor on your uploaded picture in the album view, four links would show up below it. Just move the cursor over to the one marked "IMG Code" and click to highlight it, then "CTRL-C" to copy it, and "CTRL-V" to paste it into your post.
No typing, no error. Works every time."

Nowadays nearly everybody use a digital camera: I'm sure a relative, a mate, a neighbour,...can help you to shoot your helmet. Ask them to use the macro function and natural daylight.
Without good pics no one here will tell you yes or no: so much helmet configurations do exist (period or postwar done), it's up to you.

Fellow members:
Rather then trying to being funny, you may consider that this is an legit question from an collector seeking answers to his questions.
einsatz:
Becouse you arent aible to post pictures, its rather hard to answer your question.
To give an decent opinion on your helmet, good pictures are an must.
it does sound very intressing, but there is no way to tell whitout those pics.
If possible, try to borrow an digital camera, and become and payed member here.
This way you can post pics of your helmet, and most of of can give you an hounest opinion on it.
Locking forward to se those pictures.
Best Regards

And if I had to answer the question, i'd say each and every branch of the TR painted their helmet some shade a green at some point of the war.
