    Luftschutz helmet

Good day to all- I just bought a small collection and this helmet was in with the other helmets.I know it is a Luftschutz helmet on what might be an early Austrian as the color is pea green that has been repainted a satin black like the early ss not back blue color.I am sure it is an orig. WW2 helmet but I would like to know more about this type of helmet and what would be a fair price for this helmet. Thanks in advance to all.

    Enjoy your hobby

                Wow .
                Thats a cool helmet.
To bad about the worn decal, but its old so thats how it goes.
Its ww1 style but most likely a interwar produced one.
I dont think it worth to much.
But lets wait and hear what Don thinks about it.

                Thanks for sharing.

                Best regards

                  Dennis,
Look's very good to me, a nice reissue employing one of the various styles of pre-war developed helmets generally available on a commercial basis (as opposed to armed forces contracts). It seems that the civilian based supply chains recycled very often and quite heavily throughout the war.

                  Regards,
                  Don

i think it's quite rare as far as Luftschutz lids go. never seen an M34 with lugs for air vents before. i'd imagine it would topple forwards if laden with a stirnpanzer

I am amased that nobody here could tell that this helmet is a reisseued helmet to the LS that was used by the SS VT/SD and never had decals on it,This was very common with the SD.Please check out page 187 of Ludwig Baer's first book and you will see what I mean.Lets just say that I have had hands on experence with these helmets in Allgemeine DD SS and DD VT/SD in the light green finish as can be seen in the pic. of the inside of the dome area.
