LW M42 production

I have been told that the M42 was less common in Luftwaffe use in '44-45 than re-issued M35 and M40 helmets- I find this hard to believe as production of the M42 started in August of '42.

Does anyone have information regarding the approximate numbers produced per style of helmet or perhaps anecdotal references to either confirm or refute this assertion?

M42 ND Lufty helmets are not real common.

M42 Luft SD helmets are about the most common kind of decaled combat helmet. ND M42s in Luftwaffe paint are scarce, I think because at that late stage in the war, Luftwaffe personnel were probably issued ND M42s in the standard green color
