        John Burnett

John was a kind and honest man. He was enthusiastic about the hobby and I

can remember many lengthy conversations about our various helmets. He was a friend of mine and I will miss him.

I agree naming the FJ forum after John. A true friend, he'll be missed by us all.

            Thank you!

            I do remember him now.

It would be a fine and fitting testament to John's character and popularity if the mods would follow the suggestion put forth in this thread.

I think John would have been proud seeing the helmet section named after him.

So do I Raoul. He certainly deserves it based on his character alone. Seems all moderators agree, so hopefully this will become a reality.

I am sorry for the loss of this obviously respected collector. I wish to extend my condolences to his friends and family.
As far as naming the helmet forum after him, I have to disagree that this is a good idea. Should not this honor be reserved for people to have gone to great lengths to help others on the forum they are being named on. I did a search of John's posts and here is what I found. A grand total of 13 threads started by him in his entire history at WAF. Around 50 total posts in the last 2 years. I'm sorry, but if this is a very limited contribution to the forum. It seems to me that friendships are getting in the way of actual contributions to the forum.
                  best wishes,
                  jeff

Perhaps you need more knowledge. He was fighting brain cancer the past two years. You may understand that might affect one's posting?

And if you actually knew the person, you would know his character:

John was an avid reader of WAF. He did not post as much as many, but he loved WAF and told me so many times. He was not shy, but reserved in his opinions. Although he was very savvy with vast experience regarding helmets, he was not the type to comment a lot, but instead he read with an occasional comment when he thought necessary. This behavior is very unlike many posters on WAF, who have limited knowledge and experience, yet somehow are opinionated on most everything. John saw this behavior, did not approve, and was intentionally "low key."

Update to all: The name change is in work. No further discussion required for now. Thanks to all for your inputs, both pro and con, because that is what the forum should be all about!
