    M42 SS SD "hkp64 4367"

    Hello,

I was looking at another pot, trying to determine whether it is authentic or not. Is this type 2nd pattern runic shield jive with a shell produced at "Sächsische Emaillier u. Stanzwerke" or "hkp"? Please let me know what you guys think.

    TY

                    Hi TY,

Helmet and decal look also fine too me!

                    But, do they belong together?

IMO this is not a Hkp/SE decal!

Question: are there any factory made Hkp's with other decals? Perhaps postwar applied??

                    Regards

                      Excelsior,

The decal is referred to as a "mock ET" 2nd patter runic decal. This type decal is ONLY found of "hkp" (SE) helmets produced by the plant in Lauter, Germany. Please compare the decal on the helmet I just purchased, and this known Original "hkp" example owned by Brian Bell of German-Helmets.com. Too me, the two decals are identical to one another.

Anyone else believe this type decal is unusual on an "hkp" shell???

                      Ty

                        decals

Those are both "wider NS style Champagne" decals imo.

Hkp with "champagne" NS pattern decal are not unusual at all.
Imo you will find most such decals on Hkp/SE and NS helmets.

Some of those decals are a bit variant shape and color toned, and also a type "Narrow" champagne decal is out there.

NS pattern ss decals are also to be found on EF´s (40/42) and Q´s 40 helmets, not only Hkp/SE.

"SE style" runic decal is again a bit different from NS.
                        I can recomend K.Hicks: ss-steel/ss Helmets...and a lot of sstudy.

Thanks for the info Gisle. I'll always take K.Hicks knowledge over anything else, but can you explain why Brain Bell from German-Helmets.com refers to this type decal as "mock ET pattern"?
