German Para Helmet.

I see from time to time relic or rusty German para helmet shells advertised on ebay. Could someone tell me the difference, if possible, between a modern aged shell and an original ground dug one. I just fancy having one in my collection but since I am not willing to pay the high prices they now command a shell would do me. If you can't tell the difference I might just buy a nice repro as a shelf filler.

Any advice from the men in the know would be very appreciated.

If you can hold off, no repros! Other people may not know, but the main one will, YOU! go without until one comes along. I saw one the other day, just the shell no leather with a perfect decal, 3500.00. Relax it will happen.
