I found you're site first..but the GHW approved me first for posting..less than a day ..so after posting there I now know what I have..they have been a great help but I'm sure most of you post on both...I would...My grandfather brought this back from his long tour in Europe..nobody in my family gave it even a bit of attention..I never even paid attention to it as a young boy..if I even saw it.. I recently aquired it. It must be untouched since nobody even moved it since 1947 save for a couple household moves before the 70's. I'm interested in selling it to further my enjoyment of german motorcycles..not helmets..but I really can't post that anywhere without criticism and many..many postings My Grandfather was in the 29th and was a medic..he never talked about the war, not to me, or his sons..I was fifteen when he died and that was over a quarter of a century ago...here it is and many thanks to all who put in the countless hours or research on this topic..it's a bit like motorcycles..a disease if you will: I ordered a few books on the topic..before I had this in my hands..I really was only interested in the general aspects of the war..this helmet brings it to a whole new level..thank you...

I do believe my grandfather was in the 29th and he was a medic. My grandmother gave me the book "Other Clay" and wrote in the front of the book that he may have known some of the men in the book and that he wrote her letters from their battles to free St. Lo. I'm sure I could find in his diarys where he picked this up but it's gonna be alot of work..

Welcome to the forum! As others have said, that's a fine KM helmet. By itself it's a choice helmet but that is made better because of the close, personal history you have with it.
If you decide to sell it you will have no problems finding many interested parties but you may want to wait and see if you have been stricken with a chronic case of "stahlhelmitis" and become a collector yourself.
