    My two new lids

I have just acquired two new lids. Both LF.R from regiment II and IIII.
Both helmets has interesting things from WWII

First helmet is a complete M42 with named liner. Liner has an interesting stitching. It's a size 66, but i can't make out the maker of the shell?

Second helmet is a M42 S/D Heer you can see the eagle peeking through. It's missing a liner. Shell is named to it's previous German owner. It's a NS66.

That liner stitching is not uncommon. It was used to complete the liner if the piece of leather was not large enough. It seems to be always oriented to the back.

Paint of the two helmets seems to be post war IMO.

That form of stitching is a "bog"standard form of stitching ,common in original german liners.
Id agree with Martin on the paint.Looks postwar to me. Certainly not an NS finish for an m42.
In fact if you look at the 2nd last pic you posted, you can see the original paint in the upper section of the picture.
You can see the distinct difference.

Perhaps it would be wise to spend a bit more time studying and researching than buying.

I know exactly what I've bought Keifer!

Correct the outer layer of paint is not German, as LF.R took these German helmets, probably from surrendered soldiers and quickly reworked them to guard helmets, using them to guard Nazis and German refugees by the end of the war and the year after Both helmets are domed stamped and the inner dome wasn't repainted, so the liner on the one helmet has probably never been out.

Thanks luft, i couldn't get the image of how it was supposed to be seen
