Very nice Jos..
It's a variation usually seen in the Heer Adler. I'd guess maybe 1 in 20. And I've never seen one in a early M35DD. I don't think I've seen this one on a KM helmet. And near perfect to boot!
Usually the variration seen is the "small fletching Adler" on KM helmets.
You need to get that helmet back

Well,he can keep it,he has his whole Coastal Artillery man complete this way and I can visit him any time.
Another interesting thing about the helmet is that it's probably hand painted and dried upsidedown.
It's showing by the paintdrops that run the wrong direction and one of the drops is under the decal !
There's also a eggstamp in it.

The paint runs are common even behind a decal...Can you remember if it looked as though the helmet had been painted once before?

Jos. and Perry: The decal you are refering to is called the "Bigfoot". Checkout Goodapple, Volume 2, page 142 top right. Am I right? Jerry.

Philippe I don't have a Heer helmet with this type decal, I may have a picture of one in one of my reference books. I'd have to look..

Perry: I would be happy to post pictures of my M35 DD Heer with the bigfoot decal. My question is......how? It says I can't post attachments. That's one thing I don't like about this forum. It seems only the select few can do this. So, if I can't post them, nobody is gonna post them for me, Jerry.
