    Heer Decal Opinion

Without a doubt the most discussed item is decals. I have pics of a Heer decal on a CKL68 M42, and a EF64 M35. The M35's decal when viewed from arms lenght away looks much different from the decal of the M42. When viewed from under a magnifying glass they look exactly alike, very metallic-silverish. Why? The M35 was owned by a friend of the family, a now retired Lt. Col. U.S. Army, who bought it at a flea market in Belgium in the late 1950's for $25.00, and I had been staring at it since the mid 1960's, and was caught wearing it as a kid, and was almost beaten by him. I liberated it from him for $200.00 4 years ago. The M42 I bought from an Eastern European dealer last year. Could I get a little help with posting the pics? Thanx guys.

        Mech,

I surmise by the lack of reply that a lot of people are undecided one way or the other, mostly due to the poor images.

Can you post a good close up of each decal please and also snaps of the interior of both helmets.

Provisionally, the M35 Heer decal looks good. The raw edge has also a lot going for it, but better snaps will clarify both issues.

          Testing Decals

In Relation To Genuine Decals Or Not ,always The Most Obvious Is Scraping With Fingernail The Decal ,of Course A Flimsy Fake Decal Will Pull Away In Seconds.i Assume When Collectors Agonizize ,over Authenticity Of Decals ,that They Are Solidly On,correct Me If Im Wrong I Aways Thought Say ,all Army Decals Had To Be Exactly The One Size, and This Was A Yard Stick To Begin Determining A Genuine Decal Or Not.naturally I Wish All Collectors Have Genuine Items Purchased By Their Hard Earned Money.,but Considering The Amount Of Faking Of Third Reich Items In General,i Stick As You Probably Know With Relic Helmets Now.my Last One Is From The Old Russian Front With Remains 60%of Of Decal But A 100%genuine. Best Wishes James/ireland

              Hi Mech!

From the pics you have posted, I see no cause for alarm with regards
to these decals - including the luft M40. In fact they appear to be very
              nice examples.
