    M40 ET Luft DD

This pot seems to have lived many lives (Im hoping all prior to 1945)
The decals look like second generation. You can see what appears to be the outline/shadow of the original luft eagle...? If you hold the helmet in the sun you can also see some slight remnants of light green paint behind the blue. strap is not original to the helemt. Opinions?

Just a question about the liner is this been removed and replaced?.

A close up of the rivets can be help.

Never wondered why there is a national decal on a M40 ?
I'm interested to know the Lot-nr of this one... but I'm sorry to say that I have some serious doubts with this one...
            The liner is 100% oiled.

            I would say

              Lot # 58.
THe liner looks possibly replaced. Not sure of the tell tale signs, but the rivets were a bit loose so i tried to tighten with a butter knife. We can all guess how that ended up....

Yes, skeptical of the TRI on the M40 as well. But, may have been placed on by the soldier at some point.? The decal must be old as the black has completely worn off.

can we please see closer pics of the tri colour decal.
i wouldnt mess with rivets in future, a lot of untouched helmets have loose rivets.
if youve scratched the split rivets on the inside, then people will think that the liner has been out.
