opinions on pioneer peaked cap

Hello,
I'd like to know what people think of my recent purchase: a double Erel black-piped (pioneer) officer's peaked cap. It has the vented cockarde and is in good shape (a few moth nips, and the sweatband is dry rotting like nobody's business). I just picked this up from Gerard Stetzelberger of the Relic Hunter. (BTY, Gerard seems like a real good guy, I picked up a beautiful LW double-Erel in the past.) Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Hi great cap here is mine for comparison. Tell me out of interest, where the silver cord is attached, are the buttons that hold it sewn onto the cap ??

Wow, yes the chinstrap buttons are sewn on. That's interesting--I've never seen that before. Are the buttons sewn on with your cap?
