Well fortunately there is a vaccine for the swine flu but for the helmet addiction I'm afraid it's incurable.

Awesome helmet Doug! Hey, Mark Yerger the well known author on SS material would be the best person you could hire to research named items. He does the most thorough job and is more reasonable than most people providing this service.
          Best Wishes,
          Bob

As advice from a Doc, just give in and let the dopamine rule your urges. There is no cure but to buy as much as you can!
              Take care,

Just some additional information about this helmet and the picture of Alois Rehrl...two years ago, there came out a book named "A photo history of the Reichfuhrer SS Heirich Himmler", where on page 168 - 169 you can see two pictures of Alois Rerhl in SS uniform and with his family. Also there is a letter signed by him to Himmler in 1921, where the signature resembles the one in the helmet. Moreover on pages 20 - 21 and 88 there is a substantional amount information about this officer and his personal relationship with Hummler. With that information plus the date and the place inside the helmet, this helmet becomes quite a treasure!!!

from the overall condition of the helmet you can tell that mr Alois did not see much combat...

A great piece indeed with great historical significance but not a combat dog that's for sure!

Fantastic history if not any combat action. I wonder where this one lives now that Doug sold up and moved out.... Johnno.
