SS Double Decal - Out of the Woodwork

I am not a helmet expert by any means, but got this under conditions which give it a chance at being good. If it gets a thumbs down, no big deal based on what it cost me. Helmet is apple green inside and out. It looks shiny because someone shellacked or varnished it, but fortunately they painted AROUND the decals. Markings inside look like 4778 and maybe ET61 (really hard to read).

This shows the color in natural sunlight, but like I said, it has been varnished.

Notice the "choclate brown dyed liner" and large circular size stamp....definate Norwegian reissue....these were imported in the early 60s by the thousands....redecaled and sold for around $35.00. Sometimes original insignia and paint under the Norweigen.....

Not a problem - Like I said, I got it for the price of a repro liner. Now I can put it with a repro tunic and be happy about giving it to my boys.

BTW - I started collecting in 1964 and NO HELMET was $35 back then (at least not in my home town). I did see the repainted, newly decaled helmets at gun shows for $8-$12.
