    Helmet Dealer

Has anyone out there ever done business with B&S Militaria out of Poland? Give me your opinion. Bought a grey M42 CKL68/501 helmet from them with rebent split pins and a liner with no size number stamped on one of the fingers that fit inside of the helmet very poorly. Past dealings with them good, but since I decided to immediately return the helmet it seems that they are all of a sudden rather "sh***y with me, considering that I asked for an exchange for a helmet of lesser value.

No, and I wouldn't. Why take a risk from a Polish based dealer when you can everything you want in the US???

I would recommend buying from Bill Shea. I think he is the most reputable dealer and is a honest guy. May be a bit more expensive but you know you getting good stuff.

I never bougth so far from them, but I do browse regulary threw their updates, my conclusion : worn, used stuff, relics somethimes and prices are therefore quiet fair IMO...depends on what your standards are as a collector.

I've actually been considering a purchase from B&S for a Polish helmet, something that you can't easily get in the US.

            Mech91,

I bought an m35 s/d from them that was named to a medical captain. Paid top
price but it is one of the best original camo helmets I have. It is totally untouched and had been stored away not displayed in a collection. Looking at it gives the appearance you are decades back because it was stored so well and not handled by hundreds of collectors. I have bought other items also and
have always had good luck. I am sure they will come through.

I've dealt with them a little and am very happy with the stuff I got from them, namely an MG42 barrel carrier with original paint and carrying strap.

I have done many deals with B&S and am extremely happy.
As long as you get your refund/exchange with out hassle,i wouldnt worry about them getting a bit strange.
They certainly are better dealers than the majority.

I find Bill shea to be way too expensive in some areas. For example he has in his cloth section,an m39 breast eagle on cut out piece of tunic for $150.Im sorry but the most you would expect to pay for a used breast eagle would be $40(maybe).So you effectively end up paying about $110 for the piece of wool it comes on.

A panzer breast eagle on a piece of wrapper wool, for $350.You will pay about $60 for a mint panzer breast eagle. In this case you pay about $290 for the piece of wool it comes on.

May i add that B&S have supplied me with many original items way under the price that US dealers sell them for. Also some items B&S have sold,i have never seen offered on US sites.

I know one thing that people do with annoying regularity in regards to B&S.
Collectors have a habit of putting things on hold, till they make their minds up.
Then if they decide they dont want it,they tell B&S that they arent interested.
The problem with this is,that anyone seeing an item on hold is under the impression that it is sold and usually dont have any further interest in the item.
B&S are under the impression that because this person has put it on hold, that they actually intend to buy it.
This happened in regards to an m38 sidecap i got off them.A member on here put it on hold, showed the pics to get an opinion, was told the cap was fine, and still didnt buy it.I had had my eyes on it for a while, saw it on hold, and thought i missed my chance. Then it appeared to be back on sale.I didnt wait and grabbed it.The cap, arrived, was as described and 100% genuine. The photos that B&S provided were more than enough to show the cap was original. The member who originally put the cap on hold, should of directed people to the pics and then got an opinion.bad move to put it on hold, effectively cutting anyone else out, considering the guy never purchased it.I found that quite selfish.

This scenario has happened over and over.I could perhaps understand if their items were bad.

I dont think any dealer would be impressed by any customer who requests any items to be put on hold, while they make their mind up.If you arent sure that you intend to buy, then dont cut out out other collectors by doing this.

I think that is a bit unfair, their Polish stuff looks good. Their Polish helmets certainly aren't fakes!
