Is this Blood?

Hello everyone,

I was looking at one of my helmets today, and I looked closely at what I thought was a burnt piece of the leather liner... but could this be blood? It kind of looks like it now that I think about it.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, I believe that is blood. The blood typically takes on a very dark color and usually rots the leather.

Here's a recent find of mine that looks to be a KIA helmet...lots of blood and matted hair in the blood. The Gerry must have been quite a mess.

Tough to say for sure without testing it somehow...but I would say that it is probably blood. Many helmets have blood stains if you look closely at them. Not surprising given the circumstances under which they were acquired. Not all blood stained helmets have readily apparent battle damage either....

Thanks for the replies. Whenever you see a helmet with blood, it really makes you appreciate the history of it a bit more. Who knows the story behind it..

I would say it could be blood, mainly the first picture, but it's hard to say with the second. I think we need to call C.S.I. for a possible murder

Blood also glows bright under the blacklight.

It almost appears like there is writing under the stain... usually blood does stains that way on the liners.
