Thanks for the kind replies . Now, let's hope that Brian will be kind enough to share his cap with us too : can't wait to see it...
Brian, if you don't have a camera, it's not a problem : just send me the cap, I'll take the pics for you...

...and Chris, now that I'm still awake, I'm gonna take the opportunity to ask you to post some pictures of your EM M43 cap ( you've posted once only a glimp of it and I wanna see more! )

        Cheers

Hmmmffff ! It was about time : I was turning dark purple...

So, while you're preparing this for us, let's have a little "interlude" : here's what you asked, Jan : an example of archi-classical M43.

With, in this case, an hand stitched insigna :

And here's the shield I would have put on the side at that time : the "Aigla rougia" (in "Niçois" language), the coat of arms of the city of Nice (Nissa).

                    Thanks, Jan !

(Hurry-up Brian, I'll have some difficulties to earn much more time in a second... )

And for those who are interested in heraldy, or who want to do researches about a particular coat of arms (like it was the case with my cap), concerning a country, a region or a town, etc... I'll give a piece of advice : visit this site, you won't be disappointed ; it's a gold mine, nothing less...
The "International civic arms" is in my "favorites", and I'm sure it'll be among yours :

                      Chris,

That is a very sweet looking field cap.

The Austrians have a history of affixing all sorts of badges to their caps; the tradition was much in evidence during World War I.

                          That's right.
We can remark that the Pz. Regt. 3 - part of the 2. Pz. Div. - that had an austrian reruitment, also used this insigna on their tank's turrets :

                              My favorite cap

Sorry it took so long, but it was stashed at my folks house (1000+ miles away)
                              since my D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

                                Another Wiener !

Wow, it's not the half of a cap !!!
This time, it's my turn to use this :

Exactly the same badge ! Then, do you think it's very fair to keep such 2 Wieners separated from each other, Brian ??? And afterall, this one is already "1000 + miles" away from you, what a few more miles will change, mmm ?

More seriously, sorry to hear such bad news Brian...
I hope that cap is not in cause.
