Like I said in my earlier posts, its very hard to put a value on a lid like this. Its only worth what someone will pay for it. You just never know. When you find someone looking for a size 72 helmet, then the value will skyrocket! I would definately say $1,000 + but could go a couple thousand to the RIGHT person.

Wow!!!! Good grief, Goliath could have worn this lid! Nice one, that's a keeper, most likely you won't come accross a lid size 72 again.

        Congrats BIG time!

1st that I realize that size will means more money, except all the other arguments we've invented to cranck up prices..

              what's next ?

Shade, the feeling of the texture when touching, the smell perhaps, the weave of the draw string ?

In normal days all this was a bonus, but not something special in particular, now it seems that every spot, every scratch, small, big etc. means special.

I've been in the position to buy many big size helmets over the years, because they were not favorite and people liked to get rid of them, now it seems these are hitting the jackpot.
I'm not a helmet man, but I think they're just helmets like any other, if you're looking for a big one, try to find a big one..

There's no such thing like small and big tunics being special, same with boots, caps etc..
Just show a pair of mint German shoes large size, noone will take them, same with a large hats..etc.
If you like to collect all sizes it might be interesting perhaps and you should be lucky to get these items at reduced prices instead of paying the premium.
So, it's something I don't get, regardless the so called "rare" tag.
I was offered a nice ultra huge M42 lately almost for nothing because nobody wanted it, neither did I, 2 worlds apart..

LOL I agree totaly ! I have a pair of WW2 German boots that smell like dirty feet. Does that make them worth more?

                  Hello,

I wasn't bringing this up in attempt to promote it towards some future sale.

I understand what you're saying Jos but our hobby has always been built on the uniqueness of objects. There are plenty of objects where rarity plays a big role in determining value - as does condition.

Jos- please feel free to send me the information about the helmet you passed on
