Whats everyones opinion on this party shield?

Is this a trick question, Perry?

It's acceptable from the photo. The disc is evenly toned and not too
high. The swaz is slightly offcenter - again ok. The overall shape of
the shield is correct. The shade of red looks good. Some of the chips
might appear a bit contrived, other than that I'd have to give it a passing
grade from these pics alone. What is the helmet? It has a very sandy finish.

Why is the background of the cross yellow? Colured with the age or a kind of fireman or something like this decal?

No, the actual reason is layering of decals..

I respect Brian's and Hog I's opinions, but sorry to say that mine is that I don't like it too much... More a gut feeling than anything else anyway.
Could we see more of the lid ?

Not that this is to fool you but I want to just focus on the decal right now. Using traits commonly used by some when judging decals..

I would stay away from this helmet if it were me. It appears that some of the decal is transparent, allowing the color of the helmet to pass through. Look at the red and you will see it. And this does not appear to have been caused by wear. Not a good sign IMO.

Focusing on the decal, I would say that even if its shape looks OK, I really dislike the tone of the red, the really artificial looking of the yellow - sorry, the white - area ageing, the lack of adherence to the paint (despite the lacker), and finally the overall lack of layering and honesty...

If I had to bet, I'd say it's a Polizei M.42...

I would bet it is on a M40. I think it is ok based on the picture. I never certain until it is in my hands but I think it looks pretty good. If it is fake it has been artifically aged with heat, which blisters the decal. This doesn't have those characteristics to me.

My guess is that's good but the fact that Perry started this topic makes me curious what the objective is.

Suspicious, hmmm ? Well, maybe he wants to talk about helmets...
I hope to have a M40 Polizei soon : it doesn't look as "good" as this one IMHO, and I'm very happy of that !

Oh, and Hog I bets on a M40, Hog II on a M42 : wanna play a Hogs beer, dear Hog ?

Seriously, these look very good from the pics alone. I know what you mean about layering, but sometimes the evidence of it is very subtle, even with
a lot of damage to the decal, and hard to see in photos alone.

Where do these examples originate?
