    Splinter camo M43 style cap.

I must admit that if I saw an item such as this cap listed on a dealer's site, I would most probably have no interest in obtaining it. But, as the source is very unsuspicious and not related to militaria at all, it has me pondering whether it could be era made.

The cardboard stiffener in the bill is appropriately disintegrated for 60 years of age. However, the wear on the material looks uneven which is not good. I don't know--with these type of caps, it is my understanding that you would probably never really be able to know whether it's authentic pre-45 manufacture or not unless it has provenance (my gut tells me this is later manufacture with real zeltbahn, but what do I know?).

Are you getting it from a vet?

This is one of those items were you haver to get it from a very solid source, the vet or his immediate family..

I dont know, what can you compare it too? Nothing... There's alot of items like this that are real but gets the thumbs down, as there's nothing to go on as what it should look like...

Yes its really a hard one, looks like a dead end. I got a "feild" made cap.
It comes from a good source that has provide me with very good items before.
The cap is manufacture with real zeltbahn, but who can tell you if its done pre45 or after?
Well if you like the cap, take it and be happy with it! Thats what I did anyway...

I got one once from a vet, and it was not the quality of sewing you would expect. Looked like a kid or someone with not alo tof sewing skills pieced it together. The cardboard in the bill was completly rotted. I went with a gut feeling and still think its real.

                  real camo?

I know I am the new guy on the block but I have my doubts because it certainly looks like the early BW splinter pattern to me. The layout of the pattern is exactly the same as WWII splinter but the background is lighter, the brown is redder and the green is brighter (sound like a Biz commercial). I would pass...
