Very nice helmet indeed. I wouldn't mind having that one myself. I do wonder what others opinions are of this being a water police lid. Some people in the helmet field believe that this particular decal is nothing other than a toned police eagle. Others believe that the water protection police did issue their own style decal. Frankly, I'm not sure myself. Here is a shot of an M35 reissue that I have with a gold decal underneath, Personally, I feel that the original decal is a toned police decal compared the reissue decal.

Thanks chris and jeff for your comments,
as for these being a toned decal, like Kriegsmarine /Heer helmets once you have one in your hands there is no comparison, it is very diffulcult to get the depth of the gold metallic unless you have the perfect photograhing conditions of the pice in your hands.

That's a fact, and even in this case, nothing replaces a direct sight.

              Atcase,

Superb example of a DD M35 Police combat.

Holding a silver and gold example in your hands is the only way of really appreciating the variation in colour.

Congrats. on a very sweet piece.

Very true. Taking a photo is nothing like the real thing. No matter how how I try, I can never capture the true colors of a decal.

                  Very nice lids!

I agree, it's extremely difficult to capture the depth and quality of a gold decal to show when it's not just a toned decal. I'm sure it just comes down to the right lighting conditions and the correct settings on a camera. The problem is, these digital compact camera just aren't designed for this type of photography.

I struggle to prevent glare even in cloudy conditions. Now I take them inside with artificial light and then reduce the slight yellowness with PaintShopPro 7.
