I can't see great detail from my crappy screen at work but it looks like a legit ex-wire.

The wire looks as though it was just taken off yesterday....or actually today even. The calcification appears almost as if airbrushed into place. I'm suspicious about the finish on this helmet. The flash is over-powering in a couple of the photos. I'd have to run my fingers over this helmet before buying it. It could be real, but it's certainly not a real "one-looker". Any really good Heer decal guys have any opinions on the decal?

                    Hello
IMO a nice original SD M40 WH helmet , which someone screwed up with modern paint and most likely wire , as well . And it is obvious that the paint is recent , well post 1945 .
                    Regards

You mean it could be recent like 1951 recent you could be right, it could be screwed with. I can't tell anything from this shlt monitor....at least that's my excuse

A well worn original helmet that somebody added a artistic wire shadow to enhance it's value. Don't think the name is period either.
