I am a beginner collector and thus very much still a novice, but from what I have learned from the experts here, I think the decal is OK. The head is very pronounced and has a good shape in my opinion and has toned, but don't take my word as gospel. Just my .2 cents.

                Hi Merdock,
I think you found a good one. Liner looks as if it may have been treated some, but otherwise in nice condition.

Interesting that it does not appear to be a reissued M35 but an originally issued M35 with single decal and textured paint, like the M40s. I'm curious what the shell maker is and what the liner is dated. I presume it is dated late 1938 or 1939.

Everythings fine, probably didnt need the leather treatment. I would say it a regular reissue where they left its original liner band in it. You'll see several combinations to the degree of reissue..

This is an odd question, but what causes the liner to warp and get bent in like this? Just curious.

Someone, Somewhere, at sometime, bending it back too far...

                        Hi,
The shell 's marked EF and the band is dated 1939.
I always thought that the band was bent by the leather srinking as it only bends away were it's not supported by the rivets and it's not seen on steel bands?

...that is a really super helmet, Merdock. Beautiful patina and toning
                          to the decal.

                            Fine addition.

Great lid ! Please let me know when you're tired to see it, Merdock.

The liner bands are made of quite supple steel, absolutely no way it could be "bent by the leather shrinking" ; but what I often saw is undelicate collectors pulling it back like big louts to see if the rivets are OK...
