Opinions? Freikorps Insignia?

Anyone have a clue of what this insignia stands for? Its on a M16...I am told it is Freikorps (possible FK Schwaben) because it looks like an edelweiss. It's located on the left side...thanks for any help

looks to me like an eidelwiess (check spelling).it is the sign of a true soldier.

The edelweiss was the badge of the Oberland Freikorps.

Himmler and a lot of the SS leaders were members in their early days.

I know what you mean, it would definitely be an easy target...I think it all boils down to unit pride though
