I see a police shako with the brush on shelf! Any body remember
how much and who had it?

    Thanks

    Hi Paul -

Bill Shea had that one, I believe - it was on his site at least last week...

Did anyone from the forum pick up my friends burlap and string covered helmet. He'd had it for over thirty years and it was always my favorite. I'm sure the forum would love to see some photos.

          Thanks Billy....

I seen that helmet and Willi suggested I photo it but didn't get around to it, wish I did..

I have no doubt as the length of time he has owned it, I even picked it up and crumbs were falling off of it...but this will be a hard helmet to sell as 95% of most collectors would be scared of something like that. It's a one of a kind item with nothing to compare it too, like a field made cover...it's all gut feeling on something like that..

Perry, like you, I've had many opportunities to take photos. Unfortunately I never did. Like you say, owning it would be a leap of faith as it was obviously a field modification. His collection just doesn't look the same with that hole on the shelf.

Yes, that burlap and string helmet sold by DvH went to a friend and author in England. One of the coolest helmets I have ever seen! Shows like the Max draw those items, and it only sold on Sat. I saw some other super helmets, many of which sold first thing on Thurs morning.

Did anyone see those wire helmets in a guy's case from Europe (perhaps France)? They didn't sell but I didn't have a close look at them.

John I had forgotten you had taken both sides
I allmost set it back down but right when I did I noticed it had a decal so I kept it..

Willi are you talking about the guy near N&T Global? In the corner? He had a case only big enough for about 3 helmets..I didn't like any of his high end helmets. His SD helmets were fine though..

I wish I had taken pics of that mint KM I seen...

                    Congratulations Perry!

On finding that awesome camo. It looks like a lot of people struck gold
                    at the MAX this year.

                          Perry's camoed max helmet

It looks like I have the sister helmet to your green and redbrown helmet in my collection. M40, size 68, luft (with and excavated decal unfortuneately), overpainted in green with redbrown blotches painted over it. Mine has the original outer band but no innerband. Amazing how alike some camos can look...

Not really all that amazing Chris. Luftwaffe helmets were usually camo'ed on a unit level, all at once, giving them "sister schemes." This is encountered a lot in jump helmets; I have seen many jump helmet "sisters"

Me too, John! But unfortunately I don't have any of them sitting on my lap
                              right now!
