If you look at the area surrounding the decals you will see where it looks to have been sandblasted or rubbed with something, but there is really nothing to add but that it is a typical looking latvian helmet...

...notice on your first posted pics, that you can see a newly
rubbed or 'burnished' area around both decals and even the initials
on the rear apron - a definite sign of tampering IMO.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the help and comments. I'm really learning a lot from this thread. Some of the things you mentioned such as the rubbed areas did concern me immediately, you all confirmed my doubts. This was an Ebay item and I believe it was from one of our repro producing eastern european friends. I definately decided to pass on it.

Besides the education, the best part of this post, is that as a result of it I was contacted by one of our fellow forum brothers. He offered me a beautiful DD M35 at a very fair price. I did purchase his helmet and am very excitedly awaiting it's arrival. I'll post pics when it arrives. This will be my first helmet. I was being very picky about my first one.
