    SS decal

Here's a decal from a ckl64 M42 helmet with a serial number in the 2800's. According to the GHW serial number list, this is a GOOD thing. Here's the decal:

As I said on GHW I think it has serious potential but please post a close up of the decal.

          Bryan -

It's the only pics available, and the decal is real. You need not worry about this one.

It's a grouping of other real stuff from a "You Sell It" place in the Upper Peninsula. The chick that is selling it is running a bull**** back door auction where she says "the high bid is X so if you can bid more it's yours." so... I bid more and she tells the other guy what my bid is and now he increases his former TOP bid and it just goes on and on. We had a deal this morning and she just broke it. I am done playing games with this woman and the price is now so high (almost 3k) that it's just now worth mesing with anymore.

Here's another. What is the actual market value? $4,000?

                Decal

She probably did you a favor. In the 2nd pic, the deep scratch goes right to the rivet as though the rivet was attached AFTER the scratch. On the decal and around it are 3 or 4 curved gouges, but none are apparent elsewhere. I may be wrong, but the gouges almost appear to be induced. I'm not sure about the decal, but it's really annoying when the runes have that cracked and weathered appearance, especially when the helmet looks like it's in pretty good shape otherwise. Sometimes there are genuine bargains, but most of the time, things a bargain for a reason. Sounds like she's a pain in the a@@ and made up your mind for you.

Right observation but I think is been cleaned with gasoline or other dissolvents.
A nice original in my opinion.

Looks like an untouched original with a value in the $5500 range in my opinion

If I was a gambling man I would buy this helmet if the price was right. I feel pretty confident the helmet and decal are good. To me $5500 is a bit high though for the condition.

The cracks/spidering in the decal are normal for an ET SS decal. I'd like to see a good shot of the split pins but everything looks good IMHO.

These are going for $3500-$5500 these days.

Why don't you tell us where it is so we can all bid?

                        Good luck!

                        Best,

                        Larry

                          cracks

I always thought the age-cracks were a desirable characteristic.

                          $3k is a bargain.
