why cant i post attachtchments as i need an opinion on a m35 ss DD helmet

hi,my name is andreas and i noticed that im not allowed to post attachments as a paying member is this right??that was one of the main reasons for me jopining this sight was for the helpful info and the ability to post attachments...if a moderator can change my settings or a nice fellow member can upload some pics for my as im thinking of buying a DD m35 for 2k as long as its orig....but id rather have the attachment link on the bottom which i used to have but no longer is available for me???please let me know why this is if you are a moderator.thanks and best regards andreas as i cant add attachments this is very disapointing

i got the pics up the hard way by loading them thru the web.im susspicious on this helmet as its a quist helmet and the decal looks like an et decal when compared to the ss steel book by mr hicks,,,ive heard thats not the only way to tell if its og but im scared that it may be an og helmet with suspect decals but id really appreciate comments from some experts before spending my hard earned $$$.thanks and best regards andreas

You should be updated in a day or so. Your profile still shows only "Member", it should show "Association Member" since you have paid.

I find it interesting that the party decal has the swaz very far to the right. It is very obviously offset on the white circular background of the decal. I have heard this is often the case original decals... but I was always under the impression it was either be too high or too low. I would be interested to hear if originals were offset to one side (left or right).

Any Opinions On The Decals Anyone???????

Ok, here are my thoughts...

First, I would really like to hold this helmet in my hands. Teh decal looks like a real early thick border ET, but I have some concerns and would like to hold it and examine it in the sunlight. The party shield looks funny to me (I am not as up on party shields.)

The paint looks funny too. It could be the light, the fact it was cleaned etc. The helmet at the very least looks like it was "played" with post war. Sorry I could not be more help fromt he pictures alone.

This is my opinion, since you are asking. At the very least, the liner seems messed with and not original to the helmet. This alone would make me want to pass on the helmet. I also do not like the rune decal. I am more familiar with the 1940 pattern ET decal, but my inner voice is telling me this decal is not a pre-1940 pattern ET decal. It looks more like the 1940 pattern ET decal to me, but I think it is not an authentic decal. Lastly, depending on who is offering you this helmet, the price should tell you something. If a dealer or a knowledgeable (or self-proclaimed knowledgeable) helmet collector is offering you this helmet, then you should know that $2000 is nowhere near what the market price would be for an M35 SS double decal. An authentic one would be 7 or 8 (or more) times that price. I would walk away from this one.

You should only expect to see a Q pattern runes on this helmet. It's supposed to be factory configuration so you would never see an ET style decal on this. I'm with Bryan on the paint and party shield, they don't look right. Add to that the ET shield just doesn't look correct anyway plus the giveaway price like Walter mentioned and I would give this one a miss if I were you. Far too many question marks but I think the death blow is an ET shield on Q shell. There are acceptable decal-to-maker mismatches on some helmets but this isn't one of them IMO.
