this is the only photo that I have. I think the leather is pig skin. My only real concern was the reddish color. Anyone else have an issue with the color?

From that photo it looks OK to me.
The light and camera will drastically effect the color of a liner in a photo
I would be willing to bet the color is lighter in real life.

Absolutely perfect, original and nice late war liner. This kind of thick leather is common in M42s ; the color is normal, I'd even say that it's even an attractive one here : I saw more than one with a worse dark brown color (generally caused by a heavy wear).
And by the way, cool early chinstrap too...Comment
