Does anyone have a KM re-issue M35 in their collection that they could share with us?

I don't think I've ever seen one and it started me thinking maybe they are very rare...

Great example. Here's another one ; I already posted it before, but it was a long time ago, and I don't feel like searching the thread. It was found in Toulon, which is still a great military harbor today. It's a typical factory reissue, i.e. resprayed, relined and redecaled.

The apple-green color - and even the tricolor shield here - are still visible under the new 1940 semi-rough paint.

Thanks Calvin ; but yours has also a nice characteristic : it's named... It's generally admitted that's it's "often" the case on KM helmets... Well, not for me !

Richard e-mail Cody Grayland that vists the dagger forum alot. If I'm not mistaken he has one of the best examples that I've seen. M35 KM reissues are out there

Does anyone have any that are painted in 'battleship grey'? Now I mention it, does this actually exist?

It's a good question. The very early KM M35s were not really "apple green" like their WH counterparts, but more light greyish green ; sorry, it's difficult to explain without a pic, but you can have a little idea looking at the rivets above, or maybe Perry could show us one ?

The reissue paint above is not really a classical feldgrau : it's really more grey than feldgrau in fact, but I don't think it has something to do with a true "grey KM paint"... Just a different tone of the M40 feldgrau paint IMO.

Later, M40s KM helmets often showed a nearly black paint ; it's the case on the camo KM I posted in a previous thread. But in this case too, people tend to think it's not a specific KM paint, but just a too dark mix of feldgrau. I don't personally have a definitive answer on this point yet.

All this to say that no, I never saw an original factory issued KM helmet in "battleship grey" !

But maybe someone had ?

I've seen some in a light "battleship" grey but all were repaints. I've never seen one from the Factory in pre-war configuration other than the earlier light green (pea-green) and the darker/semi-glossy apple green...

I've showed this photo before but will add it again. Here are German Marines (don't know the correct term the KM used) in the invasion of Norway. In combat gear with the M35DD in pre-war configuration with what I feel is the earlier light green paint...
