    Totally mint Q64 SD Heer

    Hi Guys,

Purchased this one last weekend. I have never had a helmet as mint as this one! My collection is the second one for this helmet, never been on the market. I purchased it form a longtime private headgear collector who is selling some helmets so he can buy a brand new car.

It is so new, that I am almost scared whether or not it's ok.

There's a nice accumulation of dust between the liner ring and the shell.
The smell inside is exactly as I want it to be after over 60 years and compared to my other helmets.
The rivets are tight and untampered with.
The chinstrap is faintly marked 1940 and a maker, but hard to read or capture in a photo.
The decal seems to be a classic Q bigfoot and you absolutely can't feel it on the helmet, feels the same as the paint surface. Decal is still very bright silver.
Leather liner has various stamps on the reverse.
    Shell batch number is: 1571
There is no dome stamp, nor evidence of a national shield decal ever having been there.

I would appreciate your opnions on this one!
I have also added two pictures of the Quist next to my also mint M42. I know not everyone is into this mint stuff, but I wanted to have at least some mint examples.

Beautifull plumage squire. But that decal bothers me a little. The helmet is 100% good but the decal lacks somthing I normally like to see on a Q bigfoot. Waiting for more opinions.Pete

Decal has laquer applied exactly the same as the Q helmet in this thread which got thumbs up only:

Here is another decal for comparison. (I will remove this borrowed photo if owner wants me to)
The helmet it's on has seen more use than mine. I will post another photo taken in different light conditions and without flash (which makes the silver look more silver than it actually is)

That is seriously one of the most beautiful helmets I have ever seen. I wish I could copy that one exactly for re-enactment.

              That thing screams barbarossa.

I remember when that helmet was on ebay. It went higher then I expected, so I lost out. Very nice helmet indeed!

                    mint

So, like, does a helmet that minty even qualify as a "piece of history".

I mean, do you still have the original box it came in?

Dan P, this helmet has never been on the market before, comes from a private collection in which it has been for a long time. So I am 100% sure it wasn't on Ebay, must have been another nice helmet.

mcpw, this helmet was sold on ebay about 2 years ago with a high bid of $1710. I remember clearly because I was pissed I didn't at least try for it even though the bidding went very high for a SD army, but I watched the auction end. The seller knew nothing about German helmets. It was sold again about a year ago here on e-stand and priced at $1700 and sold rather quickly. Not sure what the seller told you but that's part of the recent history of this helmet.

This doesn't take away from the fact that it's a superb helmet, but this is the same helmet, you can be sure.
