    ' turtle ' camo...any thoughts?

    Hello to all

I just noticed this helmet on ebay. It is an example of the very rare 'turtle'pattern camo...what are the opinions on this one?

I only can say that I don't like the rounds on the liner ( around the holes, were the string is passing), I know that certain postwar liners had re-inforcements glued on the upside....could this be a heavily aged postwar liner were they removed these re-inforcements? Or I'm I searching it to far?

And off course the camo pattern itself

    All comment is welcome

    cheers

My gut reaction to this helmet was very positive...I like it. I'll bet the circles on the finger tips are from where the washer glued to the back has caused wear on the front (if that makes sense). Lets see what some others think

Funny... my initial reaction was completely the opposite. I've tried to study camos and I freely admit I own none but to me the wear doesn't look right purely based on the examples I've used.

Maybe he miswrote it, but he says the name in the liner is FISHER which would be completely wrong. If however it says FISCHER then it is proper.

I don't know. The camo paint doesn't extend to the edge. It seems to be a poor wear pattern around the edges. I would expect there to be some paint extended to the rim, then with wear along it. I've seen additional photos of the helmet and it is interesting to see how the eagle is there, with the camo pattern being carefully painted so as not to cover any portion of it.

I believe that I held this helmet in my hands at the SOS this past spring. As much as I wanted to like it, my "go to" man gave it a thumbs down.

My first reaction to the paint was "It looks good" however, after seeing the decal I don't llike It at all.

That helmet was at the SOS this Spring
I had the same feeling on the helmet, I just did not get a good
                          feel for it.
I know thats not scientific or anything, but some helmets you get
that "100% no doubt about it feeling and I did not get it from this one."

For those that haven't see it, here is the decal.

Well, I would certainly defer to those of you who have seen this helmet in person. The decal itself looks OK to me though
