    Latest ebay-acquiry : M42 with dome stamp

    Hello to all

I just had to have this untouched lid which are IMO harder and harder to get. I payed a honest price, but it was stil less then today's market value for a ' dome stamped helmet '

It seems like the stamp has been added rather slobby and is therefore unreadable. Normally these dome stamps reads : " abgenommen + date, beschaffungsamt fur heer und marine ", no? This one however seems to have a different text in it although not readable, what could it say? Are there any variations that existed.I know that these are also being reproduced...but this one seems to be okay...any thoughts?

I let the pictures do the rest...hope you guys like it

    cheers

Thanks Jørn, any idea if there is only one sort of acceptance-stamp or if there existed more variations?

          cheers

I am very sure that there do exist more acceptance-stamps,looking through my helmets,I have found two different types of markings, and I wont be surprised if there are more.

Thanks Jørn for checking it out...

I know it's a rather boring subject but is there anyone else who can give his opinion on this matter? Maybe someone could take some pictures of different sorts of acceptance stamps?

              cheers

                Hello Jan,

                Congratulations, an excelent helmet!!!

I think there were at least 4-5 different dome stamp types. On my helmets I have two other than yours. One is same otline shape, but text looks different /also unreadable/. It is in an M40. And the other type is different shape, with angles, I've got 2 M-42 with such. And on pictures in the net have seen even more variations, if no wrong.
Sorry, can not take a picture, my digital is not good and nothing will be seen.

                Best regards, Theodor

Thanks Theodor for the kind replie and for checking out your lids...I also wondered if these stamps are always situated in the centre of the dome. The reason I ask this is the fact that I once saw a Mod40 on a show with the acceptance stamp situated just above the size marking. It was peaking from under the metal inner band.

ps : very nice site you have Theodor!

                  cheers

Well, after all I thought it can't be that bad... and found out that in fact it can be Very bad pictures.
Anyway, here they are, if you can see at least the ouline of the stamps. The helmet without leather in the liner is M40. The other one is M42 - 100% original, looking very strange only because of the photo flash.

Although the pictures are not that great, it is noticable that several variations existed. But I really want to know if they all said the same, and if not, what sort of different text they had.

In another thread somebadys stated that 1 on 100 helmets recieved this sort of stamps and mainly early styles
These acceptance stamps on M42 helmets are rather rare, correct?

                      cheers

                        Another nice helmet!

Of all my helmets that have dome stamps, none are totally clear so it's really difficult to be precise as to what they actually depict. I understand there are various stamps to be found...I don't know if the variation is due to the different manufacturers or inspection offices, or due to timescale or maybe both.

I'm sure there is more information in the reference books on these, as well as some clear pics of stamps. One thing I did notice on mine is that none seem to have a year as part of the stamp.

I will just mention, that I got the 3 helmets together /the M40 and the two M42/ and all had dome stamps... However it may be just a coinsidence.
As for the text, unfortunately can read almost nothing. But also can see that my stamps do not contain date, no year.

,,, will take you to a photo of a M35 I have. I thought the dome stamp might be a fake because it was not clear.

I would love to post better photos, but I am flying off on holiday tomorrow and I am up late enough already!
