    Help with SS DD helmet

Gents, I could really use some help with this. I recently obtained this helmet from a friend (non-collector) who it was given to by an elderly woman who retrieved it from her attic while conducting maneuvers near Bad Tolz in the mid 1970's. Admittedly, helmets are not my strong area, let alone SS helmets. The decals do not look like anything i have ever seen, they could even be hand painted. The liner and chinstrap appear to have been there forever. the wear to the battleship grey? camo appears natural and not faked. It is marked Q64 in the right skirt and T1005 in the rear skirt. I have a hard time believing this helmet was contrived given the date it was acquired. I am curious to hear what others have to say about it, thanks

        Hey Mike,

I am sorry to say the helmet is not real. The decals are old fakes that come up way short when compared to originals. Sorry Bryan

Sorry, but this is not one I would consider for my collection.

I appreciate all your comments, i was suspiscious about the helmet and you have confirmed that it is bad, a poor fake at that. This helmet illustrates that fakes are not a recent phenomenon as my friend has had this since 1976. if only they were all this easy to spot. Probably made up to sell to unsuspecting GI's looking for a souvenir from their time at Bad Tolz. I am wondering what to do with it now? Fortunately I did not pay anything for it, but would hate to give it back and have it wind up in an antique store somewhere and someone get taken. Thanks
