    M42 Coastal Artillery

I picked up this interesting Coastal Artillery M42 at the weekend. Initially a standard issue green, it appears to have been camo'd a tan colour with the decal painted around, and finally overpainted with a dark green - again leaving the decal exposed. There is evidence of at least two owners. It's difficult to see on the photo, but there is the name BUSCH which was covered over with the dark green paint and UFFZ SEIDLER written over the top of it.

          Hello Stephen

You have yourself a very nice helmet. I cannot confirm if this is a real KM or a toned Heer ( let's waith what the experts think), nevertheless it definetly has a lot of history!I just love M42's...

any chance for a picture of the inside?

          cheers

It's definately KM. The slight glare in the photo has made it appear less golden that it actually looks in reality.

I have that same problem if you look at the pictures of my M35 KM, the camera makes it look VERY much les golden than it is , anyway nice M42 KM!!!

I have strong doubts this decal is a KM Stephen, but if you have it in hands and see it this way, no problem ! The best way is to take a pic outside, and make a few trials, in direct and indirect sunlight (if possible).
Try to use a loupe too, it's a very good tool in this case. Anyway, KM or not, very neat camo helmet !
