I have seen some weird combos that are original. Not everyone got a nice german issued pith helmet, i have seen itialian ones with heer shields and italian piths with SS shields. I have seen the British ones with german shields and combination there of. Just because its not standard issue doesn't mean its not legit, especially with pith helmets. Matt

Not so fast Rob, I have one that looks identical shape but white. That was made in the 1920's in Germany. I guess for their equivalant of the Colonial office, or civilian use.

The strap looks to be the same as a standard German pith, the badges are anybodies guess as to authenticity at this stage.

I think the same as 'Afrikasandsman' these came in obscure format, so it is an outsider for a gamble, but I figured it was worth a flutter at £25, time will tell who wears the egg on face.

Now I just wait for it to arrive

mark we've all been there and been burnt.put above your computer and look at it when making a possible purchase.i have a helmet above mine which burnt me big time,i now look at it everytime i view a possible purchase.you say your in the construction buisness.if you lived down my way i could do you some really good deals as i manage a builders merchant

I'm in the market for a pith and naturally am researching all the threads as well as building my image library as im in no way a hat or helmet collector. This one certainly seems like a reproduction to me, after viewing the hundreds of images of legitimate piths.

What about the badge decals? 100% phony as well, or period pieces, added to a piece of junk for enhancement purposes?
